Live from the Mother City

Intermezzo: Cape Town's nightlife

Tip 1: Zula Bar (http://zulabar.co.za/)

With stages upstairs and downstairs the new venue will allow Zula to continue its tradition of showcasing the best that South Africa has to offer in live music as well as many up-and-coming bands. This is, most definitely, a new and improved Zula. There are two front rooms downstairs, one with a bar and another with seating in front of the kitchen area.

Recommendation: Comedy on Long & many fine parties.

Tip 2: Café Mojito(http://www.cafemojito.co.za/)

One is tempted to classify Cafe Mojito as a pub, because, taxonomically speaking, it shares so many characteristics with proper pubs: hearty food set down in front of you with an equally hearty clatter; plenty of booze calling out from over the barman's shoulder. But the food is full of spicy chorizo, the bottles of booze are the wrong color (clear, being mostly rum), and the English waitresses are serving too many different types of people, from lawyers in suits to backpackers in bandanas.

Thus Cafe Mojito is not a pub - it's just a place for good, Cuban-style grub. It's particularly nice to ease in to an evening during the cafe's happy hour, each day from 5-7 pm, when all cocktails are just R20.

Tip 3: Chrome- The Concept(http://www.chromect.com/online.asp)

Another new club in the inner city in Cape Town is launching for season. Club Chrome is reopening end of November 2011 as ‘The Concept'. Three separate floors; three ways to enjoy nightlife in Cape Town: Pascha - the house floor of the club, The Mainstay lounge - the tapas lounge, Chrome - the R&B floor.

Local and international fans have branded Chrome as the hotspot of the mother city, a venue that constantly sets new trends in the nightlife industry. The cosmopolitan club distinguishes itself by providing a unique experience for people from all walks of life.

Tip 4: Rick's Café (http://www.rickscafe.co.za/)

Walking into Rick's Cafe has the same feeling as walking into a friend's home for dinner. The ambiance is comfortable to say the least with decor reminiscent of the movie classic 'Casablanca' with its stylish colonial Moroccan tones accompanied by lounge music filtering through the 100 year old Victorian building. Immerse yourself in warm ambiance andeclectic decor in our 80 seater restaurant with its 3 fireplaces and bar, or enjoy the relaxed, vibey loft lounge and cocktail bar spilling out onto a roof deck with breathtaking views of the mountains.

Tip 5: A good old braai

Chrome brings back some nice memories!
But don't forget Fiction, The Assembly, The waiting room, Neighborhoods and Chevelle.

Shit now I feel like heading back for a nice party!
